Le lien social en Amérique et en Europe

Author

Listed:
  • Henri Mendras

Abstract

Traditionally in French, social link was derogatory, recently it has become wishful goal. The book by Robert D. Putnam, Bowling alone, analyses a great deal of material to show that Americans are loosing their traditional associativeness. Some of his indices are not quite convincing. A comparative analysis in several European countries would show, perhaps, a different trend: Europeans trust more their fellow citizens than they use to.
