Le problème du choix social est-il résolu ?

Abstract

The theory of social choice highlights logical impossibilities and has not fostered the production of evaluation criteria that would be more attractive than the outdated ones still used in cost-benefit analysis. However, solutions exist, which rationally negotiate the ethical choices imposed by the logical impossibilities revealed by the theory. Examples of criteria and of applied issues are presented, in order to show how social choice theory can shed light on the evaluation of public policies and social states.
