Inflation et inégalités

Abstract

This article revisits the inflation-inequality nexus. We argue that while the view of inflation as a tax on the poor is dominant in theory, there is still no empirical consensus on the effect of inflation on inequality. We further analyse recent contributions that document how households are exposed to different rates of inflation and discuss what this implies for macroeconomic policies.
