L’intermittence du spectacle, un financement paradoxal de la culture ?

Abstract

The unemployment benefit rules for artists and technicians employed in show business on a casual basis are regularly presented in the media as a national and sectoral « privilege ». Beyond the clichés, these benefit rules mainly compensate for the discontinuity of employment and income in a field where project work is the norm. At the same time, its operation challenges the standardized bureaucratic logic of administrations such as the national employment agency.
