Les transferts de fonds des migrants internationaux favorisent-ils l’éducation des filles au Cameroun ?

Abstract

In this article, we analyze the effect of international remittances on girls? education in Cameroon. In order to isolate the endogeneity bias, we adopted the approach of instrumental variables on the microeconomic data of the third Cameroonian household survey (ECAM III). The results show that girls have a lower probability of going to school than boys. However, international remittances promote the education of girls (5-25 years old). In addition, this positive effect of remittances is more significant among girls of university age (18-25 years old).
