Vulnérabilité et résilience, analyse des entrées et sorties de la pauvreté : le cas de Manjakandriana à Madagascar

Abstract

The definition of vulnerability is the probability of having his/her situation or standards of living worsen facing shocks or risks, whatever his/her level of economic strength. To analyse vulnerability, it is necessary to identifiy not only the potential global risk one household or one person may encounter in a given time and a given place, but also the capability of reaction or resilience, that is to say all the capabilities which will make them able to react positively and to get back to one's feet. We try to highlight the capabilities that make the difference between households?resilience and vulnerability when facing the effects of cyclone Eline that had heavily struck Manjakandriana in February 2000.
