Abstract

Joint interviews conducted with Alizée Lozac?hmeur, co-founder and development manager of MakeSense, the social startup incubator created in 2010; Aymeric Marmorat, CEO of Enactus France for the last ten years and the co-founder of La Ruche and Entrepreneurs Sans Frontières; and Valentin Pringuay, impact journalist, founder and editor-in-chief of Terra Incognita and now of Time Capsule, media platforms that focus on actors in the transition, provide us with the critical but always benevolent perspective of pioneering actors in support of responsible entrepreneurship. They share the view that the concept of social commitment is essential in responsible entrepreneurship and that the economic dimension, which continues to be prioritized, must better serve a societal and environmental cause. They testify, without ruling out the possibility of it being a fad, to the real and lasting commitment of young people in the social and solidarity economy. They recognize a multitude of forms of commitment and describe the resulting difficulties in providing effective and fair support to all these project leaders. They note a change in profiles, with more qualified, more mature entrepreneurs, but they nevertheless confess that most of them will have only a limited or even marginal impact, in particular due to a lack of financial means and support from the public authorities. However, they recognize the effort made by large companies and some of their representatives to support students and their employees, while highlighting the internal contradictions of these partners and the difficulties they may have in pivoting toward a more responsible and virtuous model. The projects in progress and the new programs they are setting up nevertheless call for an optimism of will and demonstrate the reality of a ?hummingbird effect.?
