Why CSOL-UB?

The contemporary problems and questions of the world we live in can be solved if the current or potential leaders wish to know, understand and decipher the way the environment evolves. The nowadays challenges encourage us to find the shortest road from manager to leader. When we compare the activities of the one who manages and the one who leads we often perceive the former as easier. Exerting leadership requires a process of learning in which “who we are”, “what we do” and “how we do it” are equally important, forming the basis of continuous learning. Creating leadership skills often involves fundamental encounters with mentors. The evolution of the leadership concept, from the belief that leaders are born to be leaders to the validation and the ascertaining that leaders develop themselves in various contexts, proves to us that there is a variety of elements that contribute to the birth of a leader: the native component, education and contexts form a puzzle becoming meaningful as individuals act. The learning cycle designed by Kurt Lewin proves that: experience, observation and reflection, the formation of concepts and abstraction and the testing of the concept implications in new situations can have a decisive contribution to the birth of a leader. Creating an environment of trust can transform a system in which ideas are encouraged to turn into actions able to change the entire society. Supported by its departments, the Centre for Organizational Strategies and Leadership of the University of Bucharest (CSOL-UB) undertakes to create and develop: training and consultancy programs for organizational strategies and leadership, research activities oriented towards organizational strategies and leadership, collaborations with similar structures both from the academic and business environment and specific events centred on organizational strategies and leadership, with the attendance of representatives from various environments (academic, business, political, social, cultural etc.). Given the partnerships we aim to develop with the representatives of the business environment, we believe that this Centre can become an important node able to facilitate the communication between the academic environment (both at the high school and university level) and the business environment, thus allowing the creation of a synergic relationship which can provide both sides with important benefits.
