Biblioteca Naţională a României - un nou sediu - un nou început

Abstract

Biblioteca Naţională a României va inaugura la sfârşitul anului 2011 un nou sediu. Necesitatea unui spaţiu adecvat pentru bibliotecă apare în 1957, la doi ani după reînfiinţarea bibliotecii naţionale. În 1968 se elaborează cerinţele de proiectare pentru realizarea unei construcţii de bibliotecă naţională iar în 1971 se realizează prima temă de proiectare care va suferi ajustări în 1977 după cutremur. Lucrările încep în 1986 şi sunt abandonate după decembrie 1989. În 2007 se reia proiectarea, urmată în 2008 de executarea lucrărilor care sunt finalizate în decembrie 2011. Astfel, după mai bine de 50 de ani, se inaugurează clădirea Bibliotecii Naţionale a României, o clădire care răspunde cerinţelor şi funcţionalităţilor specifice unei biblioteci naţionale
