    În Turcia, sistemul de informare medicală este susţinut de Stat conform politicilor naţionale. Totuşi, deşi istoria bibliotecilor medicale din Turcia dateză din secolul al XIII-lea în Anatolia, aplicaţiile moderne din bibliotecile medicale, adoptate începând din anii 1950, nu au beneficiat de mult sprijin din partea statului. În ultimii treisprezece ani, câteva biblioteci medicale şi-au unit forţele în cadrul Asociaţiei Bibliotecarilor din Învăţământul Superior şi din Cercetare (ÜNAK) pentru a contribui la organizarea şi dezvoltarea sistemului turc de informare medicală prin înfiinţarea unui "Grup de Lucru Medical" în 2000
