Abstract

The following study will analyse causes and development of Guerrilla civil war in Colombia. General part of this article is a view of long-lasting peace process and its results, current political situation in country and the main challenges for peacekeeping in Colombia. The aim of this article is to identify main problems that have obstructed permanent peace in Colombia through analysis of causes and progress in guerrilla civil war and to propose solutions of conflict to the future. In this paper we use several research methods while general theoretic methods predominate. Closer analysis reveals that polarization of society as well as of political scene has deep roots in the history of ideological division in the country. Political-ideological struggle has been reflected in many armed conflicts equally in case of Guerrilla civil war. Changing of two dominant political approaches to solution of civil conflict, unequal land distribution together with crime and violence caused by each side of conflict are the key reasons of long-lasting and unfinished civil conflict in Colombia.
