Abstract

Das genossenschaftliche Geschäftsmodell ist aufgrund seiner Wertestruktur in besonderem Maße vom Zusammenspiel ökonomischer, ökologischer und sozialer Nachhaltigkeit geprägt. Der Wertewandel in der Gesellschaft und die sich daraus ergebenden Veränderungen sind für Genossenschaftsbanken daher grundsätzlich vorteilhaft. Durch das CSR-Richtlinie-Umsetzungsgesetz (CSR-RUG) sind auch große Kreditinstitute dazu verpflichtet, ihre externe Berichterstattung um eine nichtfinanzielle Erklärung zu erweitern. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht die Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung von 20 CSR-RUG-pflichtigen Genossenschaftsbanken über den Zeitraum von 2017 bis 2019. Die Analyse zeigt, dass zumeist ein standardisiertes Berichtsformat und ein hoher Berichtsumfang gewählt werden. Dadurch wird das Potenzial einer adressatengerechten Kommunikation noch nicht völlig ausgeschöpft.
