Abstract

Today’s cooperatives in the territory of Slovenia have survived several socioeconomic systems, which followed a policy towards cooperatives of their own. During the economic crisis after 2008, several initiatives have emerged with the aim to establish new cooperatives which contribute to the decrease of unemployment, to improved conditions of precarious workers, to economically accessible housing as well as to a broader accessibility of various cultural, social and other services. Among all Slovenian cooperatives, the farmers’ cooperatives have the greatest economic importance measured by turnover as well as by number of members and employees.
