Abstract

Research on cooperatives is characterised by inherent conflicts between fundamental research andmission oriented research. It is also observed, that public funding plays aminor role. As a consequence, research goals and purposes have to be carefully balanced. The article discusses potential contradictions and presents suggestions for solving the conflicts.
