Abstract

This paper explores research ethics in the Sociology of Work, highlighting specific ethical challenges and offering guidance for reflection. While ethical principles such as informed consent, voluntary participation, non-harming, anonymization, and confidentiality are widely discussed in international qualitative research, these debates have recently gained attention in German-speaking contexts. The Sociology of Work faces particular challenges due to the prevalence of power asymmetries, organizational hierarchies, and multiple stakeholder interests. Drawing on international research, we identify key ethical challenges and propose field-specific questions that may support researchers in anticipating and addressing ethical issues in their projects.
