Abstract

The article analyses labour policy as a male dominated and androcentric discourse in which gender issues have only been selectively integrated. After providing an overview of the history and concerns of this discourse, it will then be argued that the current challenges labour policy faces reveal intersections and differences betwjeen feminist critique on the one hand and critique of the capitalism on the other hand. Looking at the current reconfiguration of inequalities it seems that there is a tendency to a “gentrification” of labour and gender relations. Regarding the dynamics of the current crisis, the article argues for a feminist re-vision of labour policy at two levels: At first a closer intersection of labour and gender policy and on a second level a general revitalization of labour policy as a social and emancipatory project - including a corresponding research funding.
