Abstract

Experiences with the implementation of risk assessments of mental stress in Germany were analyzed. Strategic campaigns, procedures and instruments used were discovered and evaluated. For the most successful campaign in-depth case studies of the companies were conducted. Workers‘ councils were identified being the most worthy group for the implementation of risk assessment against stress. The use of co-determination rights in accordance with the Works Constitution Act and support by an accompanying strategic campaign were shown as the dominating success contributors. An implementation strategy for risk assessments against mental stress was developed. This strategy provides a role-model action strategy for company practitioners towards the successful establishment of risk assessments and overcomes prior weaknesses in the implementation.
