Abstract

Outsourcing HR functions is a complex task and decision because many differing effects may result. However, up to now there is no comprehensive theory which really helps in making this decision, as existing approaches often focus on narrowly defined effects of outsourcing and suppress other effects. In this paper, we analyse different make or buy theories and labour division approaches and develop a comprehensive list of the effects of outsourcing HR functions, which helps to avoid too narrow evaluations of HR-outsourcing-decisions in theory and practice.
