Abstract

European Union does not fully respect free trade principles in its foreign trade policy. As an alternative approach the idea of common market has been chosen. The common market is under unified regulation and joint protection and import rules are followed. One of the non-tariff barriers to trade used in the EU is a quantitative restriction of supply. This means regulation of domestic production and internal market protection against (cheaper) imports.
