Abstract

This paper analyses the income inequality based on gender in Romanian light industry. The first step of the analysis was focused on the wage gap between men and women, while the second one focuses on calculating the Gini index using the Dacum decomposition. According to the results obtained, the main conclusion is that men are better paid than women in the light industry even though women dominate this sector of activity from the occupational point of view. The wage gap between men and women is small and in favour of men.
