Organizational Cynicism: Its Relationship With Job Satisfaction

Abstract

Sometimes we all have the desire, impulse, or motivation to change what we consider not to be working for us, what we consider to be wrong or contrary to ethics or our personal values. But in many cases we realize instantly that what we want is not possible, that we are not the ones to fix all the things that are not working, or that we simply are not allowed to intervene where we would be able to. Often in organizations we can easily find such employees, completely committed, eager to "give it all" or even to give more than it is required from them. At the same time, on the opposite side, we find just the opposite employee. This type of employee, driven by pessimistic ideas, selfishness, and lack of interest, is the element which spoils the balance of the organizational frame in which he/she activates, and at the same time, his/her personal balance, as he/she is driven by a skeptical, negative, detached, and lacking in interest behaviour towards the organization he/she is part of
