Abstract

Natural disasters and risks in the business environment create substantial uncertainties in companies, and resilience becomes a dynamic and adaptive capability that develops over time and is necessary for these companies to respond to difficult conditions and to achieve resilience and multiple resources. The aim of this study is to verify whether the management of financial resources obtained before the coronavirus pandemic crisis stimulates the increase in profitability of companies traded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) both on the Regulated and AeRO markets, in the Premium and Standard sections, during and after the crisis. Using the regression analysis we demonstrate that robust growth during the coronavirus pandemic was only registered by companies that had high levels of profitability. It was also found that both leverage and research and development (R&D) investments made by companies before the coronavirus pandemic were important in boosting profitability during the crisis.
