The distribution of the brightness of stars. A Poisson‐process with “time”‐dependent parameter

Abstract

Bij de optische waarneming van sterren uit een satelliet is het belangrijk voor het richtmechanisme te weten wat de verdeling van de helderheid van de helderste ster en van het verschil in helderheid van de helderste en op een na helderste is op de verzameling van alle mogelijke te kiezen gezichtsveldjes van de kijker. Het model is een Poisson‐proces met “tijds” afhankelijke parameter. Een monotone transformatie voert dit proces over in een tijdsonafhankelijk proces, waarna toepassing van bekende eigenschappen tot de oplossing leidt. Een dusdanige transformatie lijkt ook voor andere tijdsafhankelijke processen een nuttig middel om een oplossing te verkrijgen.
