Een sectormodel van het energieverbruik*)

The energy model described here serves mainly for planning on long term. The analysis is performed in two stages, of which the first is related to final consumption, and the second stage to the consumption of energy in the conversion sectors. The model of final demand for energy consists of a number of sub‐models, one for each consumption sector. Each sub‐model comprises one equation relating total consumption of useful energy to the relevant indices of activity, and some relations describing the substitution between various forms of energie. Only in this way the various trends in the consumption of the different forms of energy can be taken into account. Given the future value of total useful consumption by sector and the consumption patterns, the future final consumption by form of energy can be found. After that we can start with the second stage of the model, which has been formulated as an input‐output model. Given final demand for energy, which equals national consumption on the final level minus net imports of the form of energy concerned, and the matrix of energy input coefficients for the conversion sectors, total production and consumption of energy can be calculated.
