Abstract

Supply chain management has been debated as a simple network of companies or a complex web with unclear boundaries. This study explores the issue through systems thinking, which emphasizes a holistic view over individual components. We conducted a systematic review of articles from major databases to understand the applications of systems thinking in supply chains. Our review, using a Systemigram, clarifies connections and flow within supply chains, providing a holistic perspective and identifying key areas for further research. The findings suggest that applying systems thinking simplifies supply chain management and enhances effectiveness, while also providing clear guidance for future research directions.
