A Hybrid Multinomial Logit And Linear Programming Model For Residential Location Projection

Abstract

ABSTRACT Herbert and Stevens type linear programming models can produce equilibrium housing location patterns theoretically. However, actual planners do not use the model because computed patterns are different from actual patterns. The purpose of this study is lo improve the l., P. model to deal with stochastic characteristics found in empirical cases. A hybrid model which is com posed of a linear programming model and a multinomial logit model is developed. Computational analysis shows that the hybrid model can compensate for the fault in the linear programming model.
