A Non‐Parametric Test for Hertzian Fracture Data

Author

  • J. A. Bather

Abstract

This paper describes a model constructed recently for investigating the distribution of fortuitous flaws on the surface of glass. The author was involved as a casual labourer in the construction process, not as architect, but found that a statistical hypothesis implicit in the model deserved special attention. The origin of the hypothesis, as well as its treatment, is of some statistical interest since it lies in a rather indirect search procedure for the random points of a Poisson process.
