Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Algerian balance of payments during the period (2005-2018) in light of two crises passed on the Algerian and global economy (the global financial crisis of 2009, and then the crisis of low oil prices beginning in the year of 2014). We concluded at the end of this study that the total account of Algerian balance of payments recorded a surplus in the first phase of the study period (2005-2013), before a deficiency occurred in the second phase of the study period (2014-2018) as a result of volatility in the global oil market. In the period between 2005 and 2015, Algeria's revenues have increased significantly, results to the returns from oil exports, in addition to the Migrant Remittances, which are estimated at more than $ 24 billion. As for payments, Algeria's payments were divided between goods imports (81%) and Services imports (19%) with a total amount exceeding $ 735 billion during the study period
