Abstract

The internationalization of higher education has emerged as a strategic priority for universities worldwide, fostering academic excellence, cultural diversity, and global competitiveness. This study examines the impact of internationalization initiatives on academic engagement and the socio-cultural adjustment of international students in Malaysian universities, with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) serving as a case institution. Guided by Cross-Cultural Adaptation Theory and Social Integration Theory, the study explored how internationalization policies, practices, and support systems shape students' academic and social experiences. A quantitative research design was employed, using a structured questionnaire distributed to international students enrolled at UTM. Data were analysed using correlation and multiple regression techniques.
