Unlocking Entrepreneurial Potential: A Case Study of Skill India's Impact on Higher Education Institutions

The Skill India initiative, launched in 2015, aims to equip young Indians with skills and knowledge to enhance employability and promote entrepreneurship. This study assesses the effectiveness of Skill India in fostering entrepreneurship within higher education institutions (HEIs). Our findings indicate that the program has significantly contributed to the growth of an entrepreneurial culture in HEIs, evident in increased student participation and successful start-ups. However, challenges such as inadequate funding, limited industry exposure, and the need for a more inclusive approach need to be addressed. This study provides valuable insights into the impact of entrepreneurship development programs on students' entrepreneurial mind-set, knowledge, and skills. This study highlights the potential of Skill India in shaping the entrepreneurial landscape of India's youth. By examining the program's impact on HEIs, we can better understand how to create a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurship to thrive. The findings of this study can inform policymakers and educators on how to design and implement effective entrepreneurship development programs that cater to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Ultimately, this research contributes to the growing body of literature on entrepreneurship education and its role in promoting economic growth and development in India.
