Transforming Challenges into Opportunities: A Case Study of NAAC Accreditation at a Minority Institution in India

Abstract

This case study narrates the journey of Milli Al-Ameen College in Kolkata, a minority institution for girls that persevered to secure NAAC accreditation despite severe financial constraints, outdated infrastructure, and a student population composed largely of first-generation learners. Based on college documents and personal experiences, the research shows how committed leadership and practical, locally tailored solutions helped the college turn obstacles into opportunities for progress. By involving the community, protecting local culture, and giving students practical skills, the college not only met the requirements for accreditation but also improved the quality of teaching and helped students build confidence. This study shows that when accreditation is approached with dedication and a strategic plan, it can bring lasting, positive change instead of becoming a burden. The lessons from this case can guide other colleges with limited resources to see accreditation as a chance to grow and improve.
