Abstract
In response to the contemporary global demands of the 21st century, the Crop Botany department at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has taken a significant initiative to introduce a web-based version of the Digital Herbarium and Herbarium Museum dedicated to crop plants. This digital repository encompasses a vast array of images featuring special crops like spices and condiments, enhancing academic and research capabilities with worldwide accessibility. The inclusion of photographic specimens serves as a valuable supplement to traditional herbarium collections, offering resources for both teaching and identification purposes. The digital format ensures instant access, fostering increased user interaction, as multiple individuals can collaborate on a single model simultaneously. This facilitates easy retrieval of information regarding descriptive details, published works, microscopic preparations, and nomenclature. The Digital Herbarium’s launch is geared towards maximizing the utilization of primary research materials, fostering connections within the research community, and reaching out to the general public, including school children.
