Abstract

Employee turnover intentions represent a substantial challenge for the ICT sector in Bangladesh, affecting organizational stability, financial costs, and overall productivity. This research paper aims to develop a comprehensive framework for understanding the factors influencing turnover intentions among IT professionals in Bangladesh. The key objectives are to identify critical determinants of turnover intentions, such as job satisfaction, organizational commitment, ethical work climate, job stress, and career advancement opportunities, and to explore how Islamic work ethics (IWE) moderate these factors. The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with a sample of 200 IT professionals across various firms in Bangladesh. The quantitative component employs structural equation modeling to analyze the relationships between identified factors and turnover intentions, while the qualitative component offers deeper insights into the moderating role of IWE. Findings suggest that Islamic work ethics significantly moderate the impact of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and other factors on turnover intentions. The developed framework provides a nuanced understanding of these interactions and underscores the importance of culturally aligned retention strategies. The study’s practical implications are substantial for managers and HR professionals in the IT sector, offering strategies to enhance employee retention through culturally sensitive approaches. The theoretical contribution lies in enriching the discourse on turnover intentions and providing a foundation for future research to validate and expand upon the proposed relationships.
