Abstract

The rise of e-commerce has significantly transformed retail, providing unmatched convenience, variety, and affordability. Platforms like Amazon, Myntra, and Flipkart have played key roles in reshaping shopping habits globally, with India emerging as a rapidly expanding market. This shift has been driven by digital advancements, widespread smartphone usage, and better internet accessibility, allowing consumers to browse, compare, and purchase products effortlessly. Kollam district in Kerala is experiencing a growing preference for online shopping. Traditionally known for its rich history and cultural diversity, Kollam is embracing digital retail due to urbanization, tech-savvy youth, and higher disposable incomes. Consumers rely on e-commerce for fashion, electronics, and daily necessities, influencing not only purchasing patterns but also lifestyle choices. This study examines the impact of online shopping on consumer behaviour in Kollam, focusing on Amazon, Myntra, and Flipkart. It explores key factors such as ease of use, product variety, pricing, and promotions that drive purchasing decisions. Additionally, the research investigates challenges like trust issues, product quality concerns, and delivery logistics. By analysing consumer preferences and perceptions, the study aims to provide insights for e-commerce businesses, policymakers, and researchers looking to understand digital retail trends in semi-urban areas. The findings will offer valuable perspectives on evolving shopping habits, helping businesses refine strategies and improve customer experiences in the growing digital marketplace.
