Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive study of the theoretical foundations of economic transformation and its determinants in the context of Ukraine’s current economic development. The aim is to provide an in-depth analysis of the concept of "economic transformation" based on the analytical synthesis of scholarly approaches by domestic and international researchers. The main definitions of the term are systematized, common features of transformational processes are identified, and an updated, authorial interpretation of the phenomenon is proposed, taking into account emerging challenges. Special attention is paid to the historical periodization of Ukraine’s economic transformation – from the market system establishment to the current phase caused by the full-scale war. Key endogenous and exogenous determinants of transformation are identified, including war, global crises, structural imbalances, demographic shifts, digitalization, and European integration. The article explores the prospects for forming a new model of economic functioning based on innovation, digital transformation, an increasing role of the state, and the development of entrepreneurship.
