Abstract

The article is focused on the need to strengthen the position of Ukrainian enterprises in the competitive market of the European Union (EU). Explicit and implicit trade barriers to the entry of Ukrainian producers in the European market are determined. The explicit barriers can be considered inconsistency of Ukrainian technical regulations, standards, procedures, sanitary and phytosanitary measures of food and non-food safety with European regulations, procedures and standards, as well as the existence of import duties on most goods exported to the EU. Implicit trade barriers should be considered as tacit barriers that prevent Ukrainian enterprises from export activities. These are risks which theoretically may be faced by EU buyers when cooperating with Ukrainian producers and suppliers. And here, the distrust of European consumer to products manufactured in Ukraine comes to the fore. Export activity of a modern Ukrainian enterprise requires to introduce changes in enterprise management and product quality in accordance with international standards, familiarization with requirements of European legislation in the sphere of export and import activities, perception of needs, preferences, trends of European market and general increase of competence in matters of full-fledged foreign economic activity.
