Global tightening of monetary policies, how are emerging countries reacting?
[Resserrement mondial des politiques monétaires, quelle réaction des pays émergents ?]

Abstract

In the context of the global monetary tightening cycle, we show that most emerging countries have reacted in line with their price stability objectives. But three major emerging market economies - China, Russia and Türkiye - are currently in an easing phase for idiosyncratic reasons. Dans le cadre du cycle mondial de resserrement monétaire, nous montrons que les pays émergents ont pour la plupart réagi en cohérence avec leurs objectifs de stabilité des prix. Mais trois grands émergents – Chine, Russie et Turquie – sont actuellement dans une phase d’assouplissement pour des raisons idiosyncratiques.
