Abstract

Air pollution is a pressing environmental and public health issue in Jakarta, contributing significantly to the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). This paper explores the correlation between air pollution and cardiovascular health, focusing on the role of pollutants like PM2.5 and NO₂ in triggering systemic inflammation and vascular damage. It highlights the socioeconomic burden of air pollution-induced CVDs, with low-income communities disproportionately affected. The study also examines effective mitigation strategies, including stricter environmental policies, public health initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Findings emphasize the need for comprehensive interventions to reduce pollution levels and improve public health outcomes in Jakarta.
