Abstract

The article compares the full-scale war of the Russian Federation in Ukraine with the Second World War in terms of the number of weapons involved, the cruelty and uncompromising violence, and the scale of damage caused to the population and environment of Ukraine. It is determined that every day our air, water and land suffer from environmental crimes: deliberate pollution of water and soil with spent fuel, the ingress of remnants of military equipment and biological waste into water bodies, contamination of the territory with fragments of missiles, shells and mines, industrial accidents, the constant threat of damage or destruction of radiationhazardous facilities, which leads to a severe environmental crisis that can haunt Ukraine for years. The author analyses statistical data and expert studies on the state of Ukraine's environment in 2022-2023. The author emphasises the great importance of the Ukrainian ecosystem for Europe and reviews each of its components separately in order to study the consequences of the environmental crisis in more detail. It is established that today, due to military operations, the destruction of nature reserve facilities is taking place, and 900 protected areas are under threat of destruction. The impact of the war on the atmosphere is considered, and it is found that this impact is enormous, and the worst thing is that we are unable to clean the atmosphere, because we can only stop the war and wait until all emissions are assimilated in nature and the necessary cycle of chemical reactions is completed. It is established that daily rocket and artillery shelling creates deep craters, changes the structure of the soil cover and poisons the land with rocket fuel and debris, which destroys the fertile soils of Ukraine and destroys forests, which will also affect the world's food security. The article examines the consequences of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station explosion for Ukraine and the world. The article outlines the main goals and measures that will contribute to the restoration of Ukraine's ecosystem in the post-war period
