Relaciones de causalidad entre la tasa de cambio, los precios y los salarios: alguna evidencia sobre el caso colombiano 1950-1983

Abstract

El tipo de cambio y sus variaciones afectan innumerables variables del sistema económico. La forma y la magnitud de la respuesta de estas variables frente a los movimientos cambiarios dependen de características particulares de cada economía y de las relaciones de tipo estructural que vinculan las diversas variables macroeconómicas.De acuerdo con lo anterior, la literatura económica reciente no ha sido escasa en lo que se refiere al estudio de los efectos expansivos o cantraccionistas de la devaluación desde el punto de vista teórico. El efecto de la devaluación sobre dos de las principales variables macroeconómicas como lo son precios y salarios, dependerá de cuál de los efectos anteriores predomine. Así, el propósito de este trabajo consiste en determinar y cuantificar las relaciones de causalidad que se presentan entre la tasa de cambio y los precios, y la tasa de cambio y los salarios en la economía colombiana.
