Abstract

El presente trabajo fue motivado en buena parte por el debate existente acerca de la magnitud de la elasticidad-precio de la demanda de importaciones en Colombia. Sin pensar que este trabajo vaya a solucionar el debate, se pens� que ser�a muy interesante profundizar el tema dadas las implicaciones de pol�tica econ�mica que tiene su eventual definici�n. En efecto, es determinante para establecer si la pol�tica cambiaria puede ser el instrumento b�sico para equilibrar la balanza de pagos tanto en el corto, como en el largo plazo. Tambi�n eventualmente puede ser muy importante para determinar la magnitud y velocidad de los efectos inflacionarios de la devaluaci�n.
