Inflación y tasas de interés en Colombia

Abstract

Con el objeto de entender si la tasa de interés real es susceptible a ser alterada a través de manejos monetarios que modifiquen la tasa de inflación, presentamos nueva evidencia para Colombia respecto a la relación entre la tasa de interés nominal y la inflación. Siguiendo los desarrollos empíricos más recientes, no se pretende verificar la Hipótesis de Fisher en su versión más tradicional, referida al hecho de que cambios en la tasa nominal de interés. En su lugar, constatamos que existe una relación estable de largo plazo entre la inflación esperada y la tasa nominal de interés, relación de la cual deducimos implicaciones empíricas sobre la dinámica de corto plazo de las dos series. Los resultados son robustos a diferentes definiciones de inflación esperada.
