Archegos y Greensill: caída, reacciones y aspectos comunes

Abstract

Varios casos recientes relacionados con la caída de determinados operadores de los mercados han reabierto el debate sobre las vulnerabilidades de la intermediación financiera no bancaria y sus implicaciones desde el punto de vista regulatorio y supervisor. El artículo se centra en los casos de Archegos y Greensill, que, pese a no haber alcanzado un carácter sistémico, ponen de manifiesto la importancia de las interconexiones entre este tipo de entidades y el sector bancario. Se describen las circunstancias que propiciaron la caída de ambas, la regulación que les resultaba aplicable y las reacciones más relevantes hasta el momento de las autoridades competentes. A continuación se extraen algunos de los aspectos comunes que se pueden identificar como factores explicativos y que podrían formar parte del futuro debate en torno a estos casos desde las ópticas regulatoria y supervisora.
