Evolución y perspectivas de las finanzas islámicas

Abstract

Las finanzas islámicas comprenden los instrumentos e instituciones financieras que se rigen por la ley islámica o sharia, lo que determina que la mayor parte de los activos tomen la forma de contratos vinculados a un activo subyacente. En los últimos años, las finanzas islámicas han experimentado un notable crecimiento, por encima de las finanzas convencionales, impulsado por el avance de las economías emergentes con jurisdicción islámica, su progresiva internacionalización y el incremento de la demanda de la población musulmana mundial, que tiene un grado de bancarización muy reducido. Su desarrollo futuro exigirá un salto cualitativo en términos de armonización de sus normas regulatorias y de supervisión con el modelo de referencia, marcado por la normativa de Basilea.
