Abstract

Esta investigación corresponde al capítulo 11 del libro La investigación económica y social en el Perú. Balance 2007-2011 y agenda 2012-2016, serie CIES Diagnóstico y Propuesta 53, 2012, pp. 417 a 458. Existe consenso sobre la importancia, necesidad y pertinencia del tema del desarrollo rural, cuya vigencia se comprueba en las numerosas estrategias de desarrollo implementadas en el país y el interés mostrado por los investigadores. Incluso existe cierto consenso respecto de varios de sus componentes o requisitos, como el desarrollo institucional, la vinculación a los mercados, la necesidad de la sostenibilidad ambiental; lo que ha propiciado la producción de una serie documentos de sistematización y síntesis sobre las prácticas y consideraciones necesarias para un desarrollo rural exitoso. El capítulo se centra en aquellos estudios sobre transformación social, productiva e institucional vinculados a los procesos de desarrollo rural, y está organizado en tres secciones: la primera, desarrolla brevemente algunas definiciones y propuestas de análisis sobre desarrollo rural; la segunda, se ocupa propiamente del balance de los trabajos producidos en el período; y la tercera sugiere los temas de investigación a futuro. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XIII Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2011, con el auspicio del Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés) y la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante de la Fuente.
