Generación de empresas formales en el Perú: coadyuvantes y barreras a nivel sectorial y regional

Abstract

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo conocer el grado con el cual se generan empresas formales en el Perú y determinar los factores que la coadyuvan y obstaculizan, tanto a nivel sectorial como regional. La evidencia mostrada corresponde al sector manufacturero para el período 2009-2011. Concretamente, se evalúan cuatro hipótesis: a) la tasa bruta de creación de empresas formales manufactureras en el Perú tiene una pauta similar a la observada en otros países; b) el nivel de empresarialidad formal al interior del país, por regiones y sectores, es heterogéneo; c) la entrada de nuevos competidores por sectores depende de variables asociadas a la organización industrial; y d) la entrada de nuevos competidores por regiones depende de variables de naturaleza socioeconómica, variables del sistema financiero y variables de política. Los hallazgos obtenidos muestran evidencia a favor de las hipótesis planteadas. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XIV Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2012, con el auspicio del Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés) y la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante de la Fuente.
