La pobreza y su dinámica en el sur del Perú

Abstract

En el presente documento se realiza un estudio de la pobreza y su dinámica en la Macro Región Sur del Perú que abarca a los departamentos de Apurímac, Arequipa, Cusco, Madre de Dios, Moquegua, Puno y Tacna, empleando la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares (ENAHO) para el periodo comprendido entre los años 2004 y 2008. Con el propósito de alcanzar el objetivo planteado, se realiza un diagnóstico de la actividad económica de la Macro Región Sur. Asimismo, se presenta una breve revisión de la literatura en lo referente a la pobreza a nivel individual y agregado, la robustez de los cambios en la pobreza, empleando la dominancia estocástica de primer orden en la perspectiva de Duclos, Sahn y Younger (2006); finalmente, se presentan conclusiones y recomendaciones de política. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XI Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2009, con el auspicio de la Agencia Canadiense para el Desarrollo Internacional (ACDI), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés) y el Banco Scotiabank.
