Abstract
Against the backdrop of deepening global economic integration and accelerating regional trade liberalization, international trade has unequivocally become a core driving force for the world's economic development. It effectively connects global production, circulation, and consumption networks, thereby boosting the optimal allocation of global resources across diverse markets. In the contemporary post-epidemic era, the global trade pattern is undergoing profound and unprecedented adjustments. Notably, digital trade, green trade initiatives, and comprehensive regional free trade agreements are rapidly emerging as key new growth points that redefine cross-border commerce. However, the landscape of international trade is simultaneously confronted with complex, intertwined challenges. The alarming resurgence of trade protectionism, persistent global supply chain instability, and significantly tightened tariff and non-tariff trade barriers severely restrict the high-quality development of global markets. Based on extensive literature research and rigorous empirical data analysis, this comprehensive paper explores the core development trends shaping modern international trade. It systematically sorts out the prominent practical problems and structural bottlenecks currently hindering its progressive development. Furthermore, the study puts forward targeted, actionable countermeasures from the strategic perspectives of macroeconomic policy formulation, industrial digital transformation, and enhanced global multilateral cooperation. Ultimately, this study aims to provide robust theoretical references and highly practical suggestions for policymakers and industry stakeholders. By addressing these critical vulnerabilities, the research contributes to promoting the stable, resilient, and sustainable development of international trade, ultimately assisting in building a significantly more open, equitable, and inclusive global economic governance system.
