Abstract

To investigate the impact of thematic reading and writing activities on the language expression and logical thinking abilities of 3-6-year-old children, this study a pre-post control group design. The research subjects are 80 children from two kindergartens in a city, with the experimental group carrying out a 12week "Nature Exploration" thematic reading and writing activity, and the control group adopting a conventional reading and writing teaching model. The changes in the abilities of the two groups children were compared and analyzed through a language expression ability scale, an early childhood logical thinking assessment questionnaire, and classroom observation records. The results showed that the experimental group children scored significantly higher the control group in terms of language expression fluency, vocabulary richness, and narrative completeness (p < 0.05); they also outperformed the control group in terms of thinking abilities in the dimensions of classification reasoning, causal judgment, and problem-solving (p < 0.05). The study indicates that thematic reading and writing can effectively integrate language learning and thinking development, providing a practical path for the coordinated enhancement of young children's language expression and logical thinking abilities.
