Abstract
Jinhua Daoqing is a traditional folk performance art that originated during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and has been preserved for centuries through oral transmission and community participation. Known for its distinctive expressive techniques, melodic patterns and coordinated dance movements, it represents an important component of the regional cultural landscape and has been officially recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of Zhejiang Province. Despite its cultural significance, the transmission of Jinhua Daoqing faces growing challenges, including declining participation among younger generations, limited performance venues, reduced community-based training opportunities and increasing competition from modern entertainment forms. These issues have contributed to a gradual weakening of its vitality and a shrinking circle of inheritors. This paper systematically examines the historical evolution, artistic characteristics and performance structure of Jinhua Daoqing, with particular attention to its narrative style, instrumental features and interactive performance mechanisms. It also analyzes the current conditions of its transmission, identifying key constraints such as insufficient publicity, lack of institutional support, and difficulties in adapting traditional performance formats to contemporary audiences. Based on this analysis, the study proposes practical preservation strategies, including strengthening educational programs, enhancing community-driven training, expanding performance contexts and improving cultural promotion initiatives. Through these efforts, the paper aims to provide constructive suggestions for sustaining the long-term development of Jinhua Daoqing and supporting its continued relevance within modern cultural life.
